Daniel Grinberg is a PhD candidate in the Department of Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His dissertation reconsiders histories of surveillance and documentary technologies through the lens of Freedom of Information Act disclosures. His scholarship also frequently addresses issues around war and security studies, media and the environment, and media activism. His work has appeared in journals such as Studies in Documentary Film and InMedia and he is the co-editor of “Surveillance States,” the most recent issue of Media Fields Journal.
