Matthew Tchepikova-Treon

Matthew Tchepikova-Treon is a PhD student in the Department of American Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Currently a Harold Leonard Memorial Film Studies Fellow, he is writing his dissertation—Grindhouse Sound: a material history of paracinematic forms and practices—which examines sound technologies, scoring practices, and popular music in Cold War-era exploitation films and exhibition sites from the late-1960s through the 1970s. His article “Super Fly & the Sound of Seventies Blaxploitation Cinema” is forthcoming in the edited collection The Soundtrack Album: Listening to Media, eds. Laurel Westrup and Paul Reinsch (under review).
