A REVIEW OF CONTEMPORARY MEDIA

Md Hasan Ashik Rahman

Md Hasan Ashik Rahman is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of English at the State University of New York at Binghamton. His research focuses on South Asian cinema, with interests in adaptation studies, transnationalism, and the dynamics of postcolonial states. Approaching cinema as a key site of popular culture, his work explores how popular cinemas engage with postcolonial—and often authoritarian—state structures in the region. He is also interested in the transregional interconnections among South Asian cinemas. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he studied English literature and film at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
